This feature is used to validate accurate inventory of both plants and packages. The tag IDs of all plants or packages assigned to a particular location (according to the state compliance system) are downloaded to the Desperado Handheld. The RFID scanner will quickly capture the IDs of the items that are actually in the room and compare this with the list of items that are supposed to be in the room and display the results in real time. Any discrepancies will be made very obvious and additional data about the problem items can be easily viewed.
Setting up for a location scan
Choose the room/location you are going to inventory by tapping the Tap To Set button. |
After selecting a location, the tag list is downloaded to the device, and the total count is displayed. |
Tapping the center of the circle will display a list of all items. The font will turn green when the tag is seen. |
Note that once a room is selected, it cannot be changed until the report is reset.
Filtering by License Number
By default, plants and packages are only filtered by Location Name, meaning that all plants under all license numbers will be displayed for a given location. That is to say, if the location Flower1 exists under multiple license number, all tags in Flower1 will be used for inventory validation, regardless of which license number they are assigned to.
When choosing a location, there is a a 'filter' icon in the upper right corner of the location popup. This can be used to filter not only the available locations, but also the tags within that location. When a license number is selected the location list will change to only show locations under the selected license. And when a location is chosen, only tags within that location and under the chosen license number will be displayed.
Additional Filters
Once a location has been set, you can also set additional filters for both Plants and Packages. For Plant Validations, additional filters include Strain and Phase. For Package Validation, Product Category and Strain are available filters.
Multiple locations
When choosing a location to validate, multiple locations may be selected if desired.
During the scan
As you scan the room, the number of remaining tags will decrease and the circle will fill up. |
The circle changes color from red to blue. |
As soon as all tags have been validated, it will turn to green. |
Dealing with extra tags
The number of tags that are seen, but do not belong in the current room, is displayed under the progress circle; 15 in this example. |
Tapping this text will display the list of extra tags. Tap on the tag ID to display information on that tag. |
From this popup, we can see that this extra tag is supposed to be in Flower Room A. |
It is possible for RFID tags to be read through walls. You can use the Seek-and-Find feature to help decide if an "extra" tag means an item is actually out of place or if the handheld is just reading through walls. If lots of extra tags are always present, the RF power can be turned down. Refer to this article for details on setting the RF power: A note on RFiD.
Dealing with Missing tags
If you are missing a tag at the end of your room scan, tap the center of the circle. |
A list of all tags is displayed. The missing tag(s) will always be at the top of this list, and displayed in orange font. |
To help locate this tag, tap the binocular icon next to the tag ID to add it to the Seek-and Find list. |
The Seek-and-Find function is a powerful feature of the Desperado Handheld that aids in locating plants. Please refer to the Seek-and-Find article for details on this feature.
Internet Usage
An internet connection is only needed for a few parts of this process:
- To download the list of tags
- To lookup tag info when a tag ID is tapped
- To upload the report to the Outlink Console
The actual RFiD scanning and comparing of scanned tags to the tag list does not require an internet connection. This means that the setup step (selecting the room and downloading the tag list) could be completed in an office area with a strong internet connection, and then the device could be taken to another part of the facility where there is no WiFi. The inventory would proceed as normal and then the device taken back to the office for uploading to the Outlink Console.
