Using the Default API key for uploads will result in a Metrc record under the default Metrc account holder's name. For example, if John generated the Default key, but the plants were harvested by Jane, the data would appear in Metrc under John's account.
Outlaw allows individual users to add their own Metrc API keys for tracking and visibility. The default key will still be used to download data, but the user's key will be used to upload data that they collected. In the previous example, if the user API key is added, any data collected by Jane will be sent to Metrc using Jane’s API key and show up in Metrc under Jane’s user account.
How to set user API keys
The User API Key can be set under the "Settings" page of the Outlink Web Console for users with Console or Admin roles.

For persons with the role of "User", an organization admin can set it for them at the time of creation or by editing their user account from the "Users" page of the web console.
When creating a new user account, the admin can enter the user Metrc API Key into the box and press the submit button.
A system administrator can access the user's tab and press the pencil icon to edit an existing user account.
