Manual App Update

The Desperado Handheld offers an automatic update feature to keep the device running the latest software. However, for specific circumstances, it is necessary to manually update the app. Please only conduct a manual update if explicitly instructed to do so.

Updating the App

Because the app will get closed during the update, any report data not uploaded will be lost; make sure that all report data has been uploaded to the Outlink Console before proceeding. 

You will need to enter your organization's authentication credentials into the device after updating. These credentials are only available to administrators. Make sure to secure these values before continuing. Click here for instruction on how to find these values. 

A stable internet connection is also required for this procedure.

Uninstall the old app

Touch and hold the Desperado App icon	Drag it to the top right of the screen to the "Uninstall" label	When prompted, tap "OK" to complete the uninstall

Download the new app

Open the handheld's web-browser by tapping the circled icon	Navigate to this URL from the URL bar at the top: console.outlawtechnology.net/dp/app.apk	The Download screen will display automatically. Note the circled icon in the upper left corner. This icon will blink slowly when the download in in progress and display as steady when the download is finished.

Install the new app

When the download finishes, tap the app.apk item	On the next screen, tap the INSTALL button	After a few seconds the installation will be complete. Tap the DONE button

Add the icon to the home screen

Return to the device home screen by pressing the "home button" (⌂ below the screen) and then tap the menu icon	Locate the app icon in the list of all apps (Note: the Desperado icon may be in a different position on your device)	Touch and hold the app icon, drag the icon to the home screen and release when the icon is in the desired position

Opening for the first time

Because the system considers this a 'new install', it will require you to grant it certain permissions. This is a one-time step	There are three permissions that need to be granted. Tap ALLOW for all popups	After permissions have been granted, the last step is to tap the gear icon in the upper left corner and input your organizations credentials
